Case report at a Level 1 tertiary care referral center in the northeastern United States.
Methods. This is a case report and review of the literature of a patient who sustained posterior dislocation of the polyethylene core from a CHARITE TDA several months
after the index procedure.
Results. Core dislocation is a known complication of TDA. However, of the known reported dislocations all have been anterior. This case describes the first known occurrence of posterior core dislocation and the revision strategy for this problem.
Conclusion. This case report highlights the first known case of a posterior dislocation of a CHARITE core. It is likely that altered biomechanical forces generated over time attributed to device failure. An instrumented posterior Selleckchem VX-680 fusion with removal of the core is what ultimately led to a stable revision construct.”
“Myopericytoma is a rare mesenchymal neoplasm with perivascular myoid differentiation. Myopericytoma arises most commonly in middle
adulthood. The lesion generally involves the distal extremities; however, tumors can also arise at other sites, including the proximal extremities and head and neck. In this case report, a 43-year-old Chinese woman presented with a painless slowly growing nodule in her right cheek. Biopsy revealed a periluminal proliferation of monomorphic oval to spindle-shaped myoid-appearing cells. Immunohistochemistry CAL 101 showed a positive staining for smooth muscle actin. The clinical, pathologic, and immunohistochemical features are discussed. To our knowledge, this is the first case report in the medical literature of multifocal myopericytoma in the maxillofacial region. “Flexible, self-extinguishing silicone foams (SFs) with a relatively low density (0.25-0.45 g/cm(3)) were obtained from a mixture of alpha,omega-(dihydroxy) poly-dimethylsiloxanes, water, flame retardants (melamine and/or expanded graphite), and polyisocyanates [poly(diphenylmethane isocyanate)]. These compositions were crosslinked at room
temperature with branched poly-methylhydrosiloxanes with the structure (MeSiO(1.5))(3) (MeHSiO)(102)(Me(3)SiO(0.5))(5) in the presence of tin octoate as a catalyst. The SFs were modified by the addition of linear or graft carbofunctional polysiloxanes containing gamma-hydroxypropyl groups. Only the SFs prepared by means of a dehydrocondensation reaction had a good homogeneity of pores, whereas the foams formed with two kinds of blowing agents (hydrogen and carbon dioxide, generated in the reaction of water with isocyanate groups) had lower densities but a poor homogeneity of pores. Unmodified SFs showed a tensile strength of 20 kPa or less, whereas the foams formed with the addition of poly(diphenylmethane isocyanate) and water had a tensile strength of 23-25 kPa.
